We asked several of our friends and contributors for the artists (or designers) they’ll be paying close attention to in the new year. John Maeda picked...

Misha Kahn: “A RISD furniture grad from 2011, Misha creates work for a parallel wonderland, where traditional perception of material and structure is pushed to the edges of the room to make space for one big party. Seeing the objects he makes is like an invitation for someone in our world to come join the party. In the next year, I am excited to see the drama that unfolds from a celebration this glamorous, and how Misha will interpret that energy into objects.”

John Maeda is a graphic designer, computer scientist, artist, and educator (he’s the outgoing president of Rhode Island School of Design), named one of the 75 most influential people of the 21st century by Esquire and the “Steve Jobs of academia” by Forbes.
