This week, we launch previews of upcoming New York fairs including The Armory Show, ADAA’s The Art Show, and Moving Image New York. In addition, we feature a CalArts Benefit Sale and the current Hannah Höch exhibition at Whitechapel Gallery.

Elsewhere on the walls, in New York, “Harold Ancart, Kevin Beasley, Mateo López” opens at Casey Kaplan; Erwin Wurm and Klara Kristalova open at Lehmann Maupin; Chuck Close and Kiki Smith open at Pace Gallery; Karla Black opens at David Zwirner; Jorge Pardo opens at Petzel Gallery; and Ali Banisadr opens at Sperone Westwater.

… in Los Angeles, Walead Beshty opens at Regen Projects; Taryn Simon opens at Gagosian Gallery; Yoshitomo Nara opens at Blum & Poe; and Anthony Pearson opens at David Kordansky Gallery.

… in London, Art 14 opens; Trisha Baga and “Infinite City” open at the Zabludowicz Collection; Tayeba Begum Lipi opens at Pi Artworks; and Walid Raad opens at Anthony Reynolds Gallery.

In the news last week, a protest erupted at the Guggenheim in New York (Hyperallergic); in Miami, a local artist destroyed an Ai Weiwei vase at the Perez Art Museum (BBC News); rare Impressionist works went on display at Marmottan Monet museum in Paris (The Guardian); FIAC heads to Los Angeles (The Art Newspaper); and Washington D.C.’s Corcoran Gallery will be taken over by the National Gallery and George Washington University (Art in America).

And, in case you missed it, we toured the studios of emerging artists Jason Gringler, Hayal Pozanti, and Anton Zolotov in our feature In The Studio: 1717 Troutman Street; we covered ARCOmadrid with top booths, features on Latin American and Finnish artists; and we looked at current shows including Ran Hwang at Leila Heller Gallery, Andy Hall at Jack Geary Contemporary, and Rinko Kawauchi at Galerie Priska Pasquer.
