Remember Mickalene Thomas’s 1970s cocktail den at Art Basel last summer, serving up spiked punch, or Ry Rocklen’s Art Basel in Miami Beach watering hole, offering bar stools made of sports trophies? In what is becoming an Art Basel mainstay, for this week’s Hong Kong edition of the fabled Swiss fair, Absolut has again teamed up with an artist—Hong Kong-based Nadim Abbas—to collaborate on an art fair canteen.

“The idea behind the project was developed from an ongoing interest in bunker architecture and various kinds of typologies of these wartime shelters,” Abbas said of his bar. As we count down to Absolut cocktails à la Abbas, Absolut offers a sneak peek into the artist’s Hong Kong studio as he shares insights about the project.

Watch the video at right and be sure to stop by “Apocalypse Postponed,” open nightly from May 13th through 17th during Art Basel in Hong Kong 2014.
