Printed Matter: Spring Benefit Auction 2025
Printed Matter and Artsy are thrilled to present Printed Matter's Spring Benefit Auction, featuring over 75 artworks from an incredible array of artists in support of Printed Matter’s work on behalf of artists' books and the publishing community.
The proceeds from this auction will provide vital support for Printed Matter, one of the world's leading nonprofit organizations dedicated to the distribution, understanding, and appreciation of artists' books and related publications. Founded in 1976, Printed Matter represents over 14,000 titles by thousands of artists from across the globe, and provides a wide range of free programs and services to artists and the public, including exhibitions, book launches, talks, art book and zine fairs, and a broad distribution platform via our nonprofit bookstore and website printedmatter.org. As an organization dedicated to amplifying artists’ voices, Printed Matter plays a vital role in sustaining experimental publishing practices amid an increasingly precarious cultural and political landscape.
Proceeds from the auction provide critical support for Printed Matter’s programs and infrastructure. Through our nonprofit bookstore, website, exhibitions, talks, and fairs—including the NY and LA Art Book Fairs—we work to maintain a vital platform for artists who use books as the site of their art practice to develop, present, and distribute their work, making it accessible to the broadest possible audiences. Your support helps ensure that Printed Matter can continue to champion independent artists and publishers, offering the resources they need to create, share, and sustain their work.
Bidding will be open exclusively on Artsy and will begin to close at 12pm EDT on Friday, May 2.
Each work ships from a different location, as noted on the individual lot pages. Shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer.
The countdown timer on the artwork pages will display the end time for the lot. Each lot closes in 1-minute increments and will be reset to 2 minutes if a bid is placed within the 2 minutes before the lot's scheduled closing time. For further information please see our FAQ
Applicable sales tax will apply to all works shipped to and within the United States. Please note, for purchases under $50,000 your card will automatically be charged for the Total Purchase Price, including but not limited to any applicable buyer’s premium, shipping, and sales tax, based on your registration address. For transactions over $50,000, we will reach out to you with instructions on how to complete your purchase via wire transfer.
