This week, as Artsy partners with W Magazine to offer fantastic limited-edition prints, take note: there’s a dire cause behind that pretty face. Proceeds from the sale—which features new works from W’s 2013 Art Issue, including portraits of George Clooney by Catherine Opie and Marilyn Minter—will benefit Save the Children’s Typhoon Haiyan Relief. “Thanks to Artsy and W Magazine, art lovers can give a gift for good this holiday season,” said Carolyn Miles, president and CEO of Save the Children. Following the catastrophic Super Typhoon Haiyan on Nov. 8th, Save the Children’s amazing relief efforts have already benefitted 17,800 children and adults in the Philippines.

Inspired by their accomplishments thus far, we are eager to help Save the Children, as they aim to reach 760,100 children and adults in immediate and long-term relief programs. Recent estimates indicate that Haiyan has affected 13.1 million people, and caused 5,235 deaths, damaging or destroying some 1.1 million homes. Save the Children plays a crucial role in an international relief effort, forming programs across the affected regions, offering health care, nutritious food, clean water, and shelter. Efforts are also in place to establish safe, supervised spaces for children to play, learn, and do art projects, to help assuage anxiety and fear caused by the catastrophe.

In addition to Opie and Minter, the sale includes works by Yayoi Kusama, Karen Kilimnik, Lorna Simpson, and photographs by Michael Thompson featuring Jean Paul Gaultier designs, all of which are available exclusively on Artsy.
